2nd April
Stuart brought us a collection of black and white pictures of Bury in 1960s - before the extensive demolition work and construction of the Angouleme Way, Millgate Centre, new market hall and bus & rail Interchange. These were a fascinating record of the Bury that was, and the slide sequence - with Stuart’s brilliant narration - was effectively complimented by several post-construction colour pictures to provide a then-and-now comparison, similar to these pictures below. Has it changed for the better, I wonder. What do you think?
To finish off the evening, we ran one of the late Jim Sixsmith’s films, this one starring his family as they went off on a trip to Dorset. Jim’s films were always very inventive - and often very funny - and this example lifted the ‘family holiday film’ to a whole new level!
