Welcome to the website of Bury CS in East Lancashire, which has been in existence since 1960, well before the age of video. But of course technology has moved on since then with current productions in HD video and Dolby digital sound.
Bury CS meets on Wednesday evenings at 8.00 pm in room 5 at The Mosses Centre. It is a small, informal group with a programme which provides for a wide range of interests in video and film production and presentation. New members are able to learn much from more experienced members and the society has its own equipment for presentation of digital video, 8mm and 16mm film. Meetings are arranged to take in all members' interests and skills.
Competition Venues which the Society supports
The Society usually chooses members’ productions for entry into the Burnley Festival every year in March. We also enter Bolton Movie Makers’ Movie Challenge in May. Members are encouraged to visit these venues to support the Society.
Call Roy Turner on 0161 797 4019, or Hon. Secretary Kevin Ashton on 0161 797 3121 for more information or send a message on our Contact Us page.
It’s all happening at Bury CS!
Cine to Video Series of meetings
Our latest introduction at our meetings is a series of evenings dedicated to copying film to DVD.
Roy has made a start by showing how he sets camera and projector to digitise a short film. The next meeting will take up the story by showing how to get your video onto a DVD with a menu.
Yes, we’re having another public show at The Met in March. This is a chance to see our 1964 film ‘Portrait of Wednesday’ in the comfort of The Box theatre there. Once again see Bury as it was in the 1960s.
